What's in a Name?

We have been asked, “What’s the story behind the name, Rivershore?”

Well, some of it had to do with the web domains that were available, and it’s hard to come up with a name some other band isn’t already using. But we landed on Rivershore because of these four primary reasons:

1. Standing on the shore of a river is symbolic of where we are at prophetically. We are about to cross over into our inheritance any day—Heaven! We liked that emphasis on heavenly hope.

2. Nearness to a river provides life, shade, fruitfulness, strength for trees and vegetation etc... this is a spiritually rich image especially in Psalms and Proverbs. We like the picture of a tree planted by streams of water.

3. Israel did not cross the Jordan the first time for lack of faith, but the second time the waters were heaped up and they crossed. From then on God stopped doing things FOR Israel and they had to start cooperating WITH God—that will preach!

4. I (Matt) have a vivd memory of when I was 7 years old when I walked down a sandy shore and was baptized by my Pastor and dad. Many people share this experience and that image is powerful.

Rivershore. Now you know what's in the name.
